Mike Norman first came to Anna Maria Island as a child in 1949 to visit his grandparents who lived on Maple Avenue in Anna Maria. Every summer he came to visit them and his uncle, Alpheus, who ran the Public Beach concession stand for the Kiwanis Club. During those summers, Mike learned the waters around Anna Maria Island while fishing with his cousin and Alpeus, who was also a charter captain.

In 1963, while attending college in Washington State, Mike became a Florida resident when his parents built a house on Baronet Lane in Key Royale. His parents, Alton and Sally, were among the first families to live in Key Royale in Holmes Beach.

After graduating from college in 1965 Mike became a commercial fisherman out of Cortez, fishing aboard the “Dixie Belle,” owned by Walter Belle. In 1969 he moved here permanently.

Mike Norman Realty was opened in 1978 and over the years has become the leader in Anna Maria Island property sales and vacation beach rentals. With the help of his daughters, Sally and Marianne, and a small crew of Island experts and residents, Mike Norman Realty continues to grow.
